Running into the Wilderness

Strip away from me all that I think is mine,
for all of me and my possessions belong to You.
Call me foolish call me an idiot,
but I'd rather be those than rather be fooled.
Take me away into a secret haven,
where it's You with me, and I with You.
Without this separate devotion for only You,
I feel despair and pain and only You will do.

Prepare me a place where I can run away to,
after I slip, trip and fall, I will rest in this place.
In this place, here with You, noone will see,
see me set free with Your light on my face.

Oh God, save me from the misery I fall into.
Like a bandit in the night steal me from my enemy,
or like a glorious general crush the skulls of my enemies,
even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
through You, I have hope, through You I have breath.
pick me up, turn me around, and on solid ground my feet will set,
guide me, hold me tight, and never let go, my story now is a duet.

I with you, You with me,
I long to feel this intimacy.
A hole in my heart, that only You can fill,
in the wilderness I will start, where I will sit and be still,
waiting for Your presence, waiting for You,
and when You come, my heart is filled, out my lips slip... i love you
