Fasting created a longing for intimacy. The issue is not whether or not I have the hunger, the issue is whether or not I will fill that hunger with the Lord. As I fill up this hunger with the Lord, and He begins to download divine, heavenly plans into my mind, my mind, body, and soul's capacity for intimacy enlarges as well. If I do not continue to sit at His feet, I need to fulfill that intimacy with something else, and it's a HUGE hole.
Enter stage left, satan.
When the longing for intimacy is absent, satan will not even bother to tempt you because he knows that there is no way you can grow if your desire for a relationship with God is absent. He begins to work when a vaccuum is created within our souls for something greater, God's work. What previously seemed to be a easily overcomable temptation now becomes the very thing you literally fight with your mind's fists and legs.
At every corner, the temptation seemingly grows at an unmeasurable rate. You turn and run, and its right up in your face. Turn again and again and again. Until you look up...
You place yourself in the 3rd heaven, where the glory of God is. You no longer are battling the longing for intimacy from the 1st and 2nd heaven (1st being the physical, 2nd being the spiritual realm, demons and angels), you are now in a place where hope is in every crevice and despair is not even in existence. The longing for intimacy is filled with the ever flowing fountain of life (which comes from Jesus Christ).
When all seems to be crashing in around you, look to the 3rd heavens and pray from the 3rd heaven, where hope lives and death is defeated.
